Spacing Staircase Ballusters

I prefer balluster rails to have equal spaces next to the newels as between the other ballusters. I devised an Excel spreadsheet to calculate the spacings for a given straight staircase and landing like the one I made in my own home using Richard Burbidge components from Stairplan.

You must assure yourself that the sheet works for you, no liability is accepted for any problems you may have.

For a given spindle size, the sheet calculates the actual spindle spacing and the fillet length for various numbers of spindles, giving 'OK' or 'illegal' according to UK building regs. It also calculates the cumulative pitches for marking off along the string to avoid accumulated errors.
